New Denver 2x4s are sawdust ... welcome the New Chester Thorobreds

The New Denver 2x4s, coming off the worst season of any team in FFL history (0-16), have changed the franchise name to the New Chester Thorobreds. Co-owner Mike White announced the new team name Monday, noting the new franchise name is simply studs of a different color. The new name also reflects the new location of co-owner Rich Sladic, who has moved the corporate offices for his half of the franchise to Winchester, KY.

The Thorobreds will be abbreviated NCT on the web site. Other new team abbreviations for this year: MIM (MassILL Mud, formerly GBM) and RIB (Richburgh Raptors, formerly RMD).

Rule Change Results

Only 2 of the 7 proposed rule changes were passed by owners. Both rule changes will take effect this season:

1) Dropped players may be re-added by the team that dropped them after one week.
2) Active roster for regular season will be reduced from 15 to 14. (This year's draft will be one less round).

Draft Lottery Order

Following the 18th Carbon House Road Rally on May 8, owners from four FFL teams drew the cards for the 2005 draft lottery. In attendance were Ying, Nick, Waugh, Trz, Slick and Chris (Paret, not Nibs). The number of chances were posted here on the home page at the end of the season (scroll down page).

The first 7 picks of the 2005 FFL Draft will go in this order:

  1. Boston Wildcats (via New Denver's pick)
  2. Big Oregon Bang
  3. Keystone Longfellows
  4. Orange County beachDudes
  5. Miami Muffdivers
  6. Philadelphia Griffins (via Mercer's pick)
