Keystone wins 91-78 in
Fantasy Bowl X shootout
The Keystone Longfellows outlasted the Boston Wildcats in the highest-scoring
Fantasy Bowl in league history, grabbing the league championship
with a 91-78 win. RB Marshall Faulk was the undisputed playoff MVP
for the Longfellows, following up last week's 34-point performance
with 32 points this week. Faulk saved his best two weeks for the
playoffs and, in the process, defeated the two fantasy teams (BOS
and NYG) that previously owned him. Keystone also saw WRs Darrell
Jackson (20) and Plaxico Burress (17) post their highest scores
of the season.
For the Boston Wildcats, let the comparisons to the Buffalo Bills
begin. BOS is the first team in league history to appear in 3 consecutive
Fantasy Bowls and also holds the unenviable distinction of being
the first team to lose 3 consecutive Fantasy Bowls. The Wildcats
were also hampered by the Patriot's bye-week, losing starting RB
Antowain Smith who has been averaging 14 points per week over the
past 5 weeks.
"If someone told me beforehand the Wildcats would score 78
points, I would have been thrilled" Boston owner Ron Yeany
said. "My team had an awesome game, and Keystone had an even
better game. No disappointment here. My congratulations to Terry
Muth. It will be nice to see a new name on the trophy."
Third Place Game
Graynbald Mud defeated the New York Griffins 30-15 to capture a
third-place finish in the playoffs. RB Priest Holmes provided the
bulk of GBM's points. Holmes has scored 83 points in the past 6
weeks and is the 4th-highest scoring overall player in the league
this year. The once-formidable NYG receiving corps managed only
2 points on the weekend.
Consolation Playoffs
Big Oregon Bang easily dispatched last year's champion Syracuse
Blizzard by a 63-12 score. WR David Boston lead the Big Bang with
20 points. Boston has scored in all but 2 weeks this season and
has 134 points on the year, making him the 4th-highest scoring WR
in the league.
Points Race
The Boston Wildcats repeat as points champions, finishing the year
with 1102 points, 181 points ahead of second-place Oregon. The Miami
Muffdivers take the consolation points prize (top points of non-playoff
teams) with 793.
